6th GradeStudents have learned about texture and are creating 4 simulated texture samples from texture rubbings that they have found in the classroom. We will begin learning about the proportion of a human figure and create a drawing based on the work of Jose Guadalupe Posada and Dias des los Muertos. Students will need a plastic shopping bag next Tuesday, September 17 for a clay project. Upcoming Due Dates
8th GradeStudents will be creating 3 projects that are related to the art of the Native Americans. We have begun with a clay whistle and will then work as a group to decide on the criteria for our Native American inspired pot. We will also design a Native American rug using design software. This will be done next month. Next week we will study Folk Art. | 7th GradeStudents were introduced to their brain. They learned there is a right side and left side and each side does different things. We have begun our drawing unit, this week creating a still life with dramatic lighting. We will be concentrating on the elements of shape and form, value and space and working on our shading techniques. The end of the week will see students creating a drawing from a photograph and using a grid. If students get specialty magazines (motorcross, dance, etc.) that has full page photographs, they may bring them to class on Friday. Upcoming Due Dates
Graphic DesignWork finishes up the 9th on the type animal. Students are then learning about the parts of fonts and categories of fonts. We will also begin downloading fonts on Wednesday.
