Abstract Expressionism – artwork that has no objects (non-objective) and tends to look like a child could do it.
Pop Art –
short for “popular” culture, pop art uses everyday objects from the mid 1960’s with bright colors.
Know what an artist proof is in printing(2,3) – an artist proof is a print made by an artist to see what the image will look like when printed. The artist will label this work with an AP in the lower left hand corner. If the artist likes the print, they will create an edition of the image, if not, they will continue working on the plate and print another artists proof.

Know what the top and bottom numbers represent on a print (2,3) –prints are numbered in a fraction style in the lower left hand corner of the image. The top number represents the number of the print in that series and the bottom number represents the total number of the series.
Understand what a print is.(2,3) – a print is an artwork that is created on a separate surface called a plate. The plate is then inked and many copies of the same image can be made. This is an indirect method of creating art since the image is made on the plate and not the paper.

Alexander Calder – sculpture and father of the mobile. Works in metal and wire creating whimsical creatures and abstract shapes.
Know what a stabile is(5) – a sculpture that does not move but remains “stable”
Know what a mobile is (5) – a sculpture that moves either with a motor or the wind, it is mobil.
Know what gingerbread is.(5) – the intricate and detailed decoration of turn of the century homes. It reminds us of the frosting decoration of a gingerbread house.
