6th GradeThe final group of 6th graders for the year began art on Monday. We are starting out with a clay vase project that is inspired by Greek and Roman architecture. The project will last through the week. We will begin a drawing project next week studying the Mexican art of Jose Posada and learning to draw skeletons in proportion. 8th GradeWe began working on designing a Victorian house. The house is assymetrical with turrets, gingerbread, porches and other details. On Friday we will begin 2 projects, a mirror frame and a fused glass square. 5th hour will be doing both projects in shifts since there is a limited amount of glass tools. Each student needs to pay $5 for the glass. Students have been told they may use sweat equity if the money is difficult to get. Sweat equity would involve 40 minutes of work in the art room (based on minimum wage) . This would be after school. If this is a problem the student will be able to talk to me about other solutions.
