All clay pieces mus be glazed by Friday, May 16th
We have finished our clay vases and students did a wonderful job with them. A few students were not able to finish glazing. If you are one of them, you may stay after school or come in during advisory. All glazing must be completed by the 16th of May.
Students have learned about Jose Posada, a 19th century Mexican illustrator. His illustrations contain skeletons from the Days of the Dead celebration. We drew skeletons in proportion, filling the background with textures and patterns.
Tuesday we will begin an Islamic art unit where we will create a print in a radially symmetrical pattern.
Upcoming Due Dates:
Students have been creating clay teapots. On Monday we will learn how to create handles and spouts and continue work on our pieces in class through Thursday. On Friday we will learn about painting and the work of the Aboriginal people. Glazing will take place the second week in May
Work continues on a papier mache mirror frame. Students 4th hour have finished up a fused glass project while 5th hour students have been divided into groups to work on the glass. Work will continue on these 2 projects through next week.
As mentioned in the last posting, the fused glass project does have a fee to cover the cost of the glass. The $5 covers most of the glass cost. Students also have the option of selecting a different project or working for 40 minutes in the art room in exchange for the glass.
